Since 2015, customers of many banks have gained a new form of payment. It is BLIK which is rapidly gaining in popularity. Although this method seems extremely risky to some, there is no denying that it proves to be very convenient and allows payments to be made efficiently - and without using a card.
BLIK is a mobile payment system that allows transactions to be made using devices such as smartphones and smartwatches. In practice, it is a six-digit code, generated via a bank's mobile app, which performs exactly the same function as a card. And although 'paying with a watch' might seem paradoxical to many, more and more people are using BLIK every year.
BLIK is a modern Polish payment system. Using it is free of charge, but it is important to bear in mind the commissions that banks may charge themselves for certain services. The whole project originated from the initiative of several financial institutions. However, more and more establishments are now using it. These include:
- Alior Bank,
- Bank Millenium,
- Santander Bank Polska,
- ING Bank Śląski,
- mBank,
- PKO Bank Polski,
- GetIn Bank,
- T-Mobile Banking Services,
- BNP Paribas,
- Credit Agricole,
- Bank Pekao S.A.,
- Co-operative Banking Group,
- Noble Bank.
How and where to use BLIK?
To use this form of payment, you need a phone with the app of the bank where you have an account. With this, a code is generated which is then entered at an ATM, in a special payment field during online payments or at a terminal in a shop. In the final step, you confirm the transaction in the mobile app.
A person using BLIK can use it to withdraw money from an ATM, pay at stationary shops and online, make a transfer to another BLIK user's phone and issue cheques.

Withdrawals at ATMs
To carry out this operation, you need to use a special ATM that offers this possibility (nowadays, the vast majority of ATMs allow this, and their number is increasing every year). If you want to withdraw money, select BLIK transaction without a card on the screen. In the next step, you have to enter the generated code and then confirm the whole thing by entering your PIN in the mobile app. The main advantage of the whole process is that no card is required.
-
Internet payments
In order to use BLIK when shopping online, you must select this option when choosing a payment method. After being redirected to the page where the payment is made, you need to enter the six-digit code and then confirm the entire operation in the mobile app.
-
Stationary payments
If you want to use BLIK in a stationary shop, you first need to check whether it is possible to make a payment using it. This is usually indicated by stickers on the door. If there are none, it is worth asking the shop staff. At the checkout, all you have to do is launch the bank's mobile app and press the BLIK icon, which will generate a six-digit code. Once this is obtained, all that remains is to enter it on the terminal's keypad and confirm the payment in the app.
-
Transfer to another person's phone
The biggest advantage of this option is that there is no need to enter the account number of the recipient of the transfer. The money can reach the recipient's account in no time at all - ideally if he or she also uses the BLIK service (if he or she does not, he or she will receive an SMS message that redirects him or her to a page where he or she will have to enter the account number).
-
BLIK cheque
A BLIK cheque is created in advance by setting a specific amount and generating a nine-digit code. It can then be used to withdraw money from ATMs, as well as to make payments - both online and in-store. This is a good option when the need arises to transfer funds to another person instantly. To use it, all you need to do is share your cheque code password with them.
Pay safely with BLIK
Using BLIKA is an efficient and fast payment process that is gaining more and more followers. There is no denying that this modern form has a great many advantages. The biggest of these is that there is no need for a card. All payments can be made using a smartphone and a one-time code generated in it.
Another advantage is that the code obtained is temporary (usually about 2 minutes). After this time, it loses its validity, so you cannot make payments using it again. This makes BLIK a very secure form of payment, because even if someone learns the code obtained, they will not be able to use it a second time.
By using the BLIK option, there is no need to log in to online banking each time and enter the card number. This ensures that your data remains secure. Confirming each transaction will avoid fraud. The ability to make a transfer even if the sender does not know the recipient's account number is also a big plus. If you want to make your life easier, it is worth starting your adventure with BLIK payments!
