Banner adverts are a form of promotion involving the display of a graphic or photograph of a product, the brand logo and text encouraging purchase. For decades, they were hung on street poles and structures located along motorways and other inter-urban roads. Today, they are still common, but have also gained a digital variant.

Billboard
A billboard is an online advertising banner that is placed at the top of a page. It is usually large in size and therefore catches the viewer's attention. Because it is located in an attractive promotional location, it usually costs the most of all banner types.

Marketing materials of this type are woven between blocks of text and associated images and graphics. Like billboards, they can be large in size. Thanks to this place of publication, they are difficult to overlook. This is why their cost can also be relatively high.
Pop-upy, skyscrapery i scrolle
Other forms of online banners are also difficult to ignore, but at the same time can be poorly perceived by internet users. This includes scrolls, i.e. adverts that follow a person as they scroll through a website. Many sites also feature pop-ups, which are windows that open unexpectedly with a promotional message. The last type, skyscrapers, are content placed on the sides. For the viewer, they also remain visible as they move down and up the site.

What the various forms of banner advertising have in common is the ease of their creation, the flexibility of the choice of display location and the possibility of targeting the message only to the target audience. For all these reasons, they are invariably popular, even despite the existence of many other forms of promotion.
However, it is worth remembering that the message should be balanced. Designing online banners that distract from the main content for which a potential customer has entered the site can be poorly received. As a result, rather than prompting a purchase, it can sometimes discourage it.
