Ever-increasing energy prices are forcing everyone to look for savings. At home, in transport and also in the office. How to save electricity in your business and where to look for energy savings? Find out some ways that will solve your problem and make your electricity bills lower.
How to save electricity in the office - the right equipment for the job
Saving energy in the office is a logistical issue that, to make sense, needs to be planned even at the office design stage. It is easier to make savings in an office from scratch, at the planning and design stage. The process is then much smoother than when the office is ready and green innovations are only then introduced.
Opt for energy-efficient solutions. Appliances of at least energy class "C" are the key to reducing energy expenditure. This obviously involves a large initial outlay, but the return on investment is fairly certain, and simply spread out over time.
A rather controversial yet remarkably effective way to save electricity in a company is to reduce working hours. One hour a day of a shorter open office gives at least five hours less in weekly electricity consumption, which makes a colossal difference on a monthly and annual basis. It's not just about the lights, but all the equipment running in the office.
How to save electricity in the office - proper lighting
Office lighting is an extremely important issue. Your comfort depends on it, which affects the quality of your work. A well-chosen light will not adversely affect your eyesight, and its colour can make you feel sleepy or awake.
Opt for led panels, which are cheap to run in the long term. This will save you money on replacing your lighting - you'll think about it once every few years.
Light is not free - if possible, use natural lighting during the day, besides your wallet, your eyes will thank you for it. It is true that most of the year in Poland the sun does not shine for very long, but even during the summer months you will be able to notice the difference in the money you save and the mood of your employees - the human body reacts better to natural light than to artificial light, and it also promotes a good mood, which is essential when working. Opt for energy-efficient LED lights in your company and don't forget to switch them off.
What are other ways to save electricity in the office?
Eco-factories are your allies when it comes to saving energy in your business. Whenever you stop using your monitor, switch it off - as it uses almost half the energy your computer needs to work. If you often step away from your computer for long periods of time, find an automatic sleep mode in its settings, which will switch on after 10-15 minutes without any movement.
The same applies to air conditioning. Only turn it on when you need it and try to balance its power - it is least energy efficient to create large temperature differences. When the air conditioning is on, close the windows and doors, you will speed up the process of lowering the temperature.
If you use a laptop at work, unplug it from the mains after charging. This will take care of the electricity consumed and also prolong the life of the battery.
A printer is an essential item in the office, but do you use it all the time? If you print something occasionally, leave the device unplugged.
Small things can make a real difference, sometimes you just need to start - don't wait, implement eco habits in your office and save now!
