Designing a company logo is something that every entrepreneur faces sooner or later. However, since modern audiences are more likely to notice images than text, it is worth undertaking this task as soon as possible. You don't need a professional graphic designer for this. Find out how to do it yourself!
How to design a logo - what is worth knowing?
A logotype is a unique, distinctive graphic symbol for the visual identification of a brand. Its primary task is to attract the attention of customers and distinguish the company from its competitors. The right logo design can bring a brand greater visibility among its audience, not only on the internet.
Gadgets, shopping bags or packaging bearing the logo are also a kind of business card for brands.
Before you start creating a logo, determine what you want it to convey and what emotions you want it to evoke. Only on this basis should you proceed with the design.
Logo design - what tools to use?
Who best knows what image a company wants to create, if not its owner? However, at the beginning of the business, the company's budget is limited, so in order to create a logo yourself, rely on a free logo design programme. Here are some popular examples:
- Canva - an intuitive and graphic-rich tool for creating marketing materials. Not only will you design your logo in it, but also, among other things, attractive testimonials for Instagram or Facebook. In the premium version, you can save the elements and colours of your brand's visual identity, so that all graphics are consistent.
- Logo Maker - includes many templates for symbols and business cards from which you will create unique designs. The tool will optimise the graphics so that they look good on social media or in print, for example, but high quality images are chargeable.
- Logo Garden - like its predecessor, it allows you to choose a symbol or mark and an attractive font. You have to pay around £ 60 for the high-quality graphics.

What to bear in mind when designing a logo?
As we mentioned above, designing a logo requires a plan, including determining what we want to convey with the image. If we design a mark that does not resonate well with customers, we may put them off.
Furthermore, it is not only the design itself that is important, but also the colour scheme. According to colour psychology, each colour reflects something different. Red (like the logos of brands aimed at young people/entertainment) represents strength and passion, while blue represents serenity and trust (like the logos of banks and insurance companies). The font should also be chosen appropriately - it must not make the name difficult to read, but must reflect the character of the brand.
If you want to create an effective and eye-catching logo design - price is not an issue. Beginners, however, may be looking for some cheaper alternatives. Fortunately, great intuitive tools, available online, can help with the design. In this way, your brand can be reflected in the kind of logo that best reflects your objectives.
