What electric cars are available with the greatest range on the Polish automotive market?
21 April 2022
When buying an electric car, most people pay attention to the range, i.e. how many kilometres the vehicle is able to drive on a single charge. We present the electric cars with the longest range on the Polish market. Find out also what influences the performance of electrics and whether it is the only thing to consider when choosing one.
The electric car with the longest range - how many kilometres can you drive on a single charge?
The performance of electric cars is measured at manufacturers using the WLTP (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure). This is a relatively new way of tracking vehicle performance, as it has been in force since 2017. Based on the statistics, it is also possible to create a ranking of electric cars with the greatest range. In this article, we focus, of course, around those available in Poland.
It will certainly come as no surprise to anyone that the top three is actually closed by one car brand. In first place is the Tesla Model S (Long Range Plus) with a range of 652 km. This is the highest score to date. It is immediately followed by the Tesla Model 3 (Long Range) with a range of 580 km. The podium is rounded off by another Tesla model, this time it is the Tesla Model X (Long Range Plus) with a range of 561 km. There is also a correspondingly high price associated with this well-known brand - but it is not directly proportional to the range. If you want a slightly cheaper option, but still efficient, you can bet on the next models on the list, namely the Volkswagen ID.3 with a range of 549 km or the Volkswagen ID.4 with a range of 500 km. Also worth looking out for are the Hyundai Kona Electric (484 km) or the Jaguar I-Pace (470 km). Unfortunately, the list of electric cars with the longest range does not include any Polish-made vehicle.
What influences the greatest ranges achieved by electric cars?
It is worth bearing in mind that the coverage determined by the WTLP may not coincide with reality. Why is this the case? Well, the actual mileage is influenced by many factors. Of those related to the technical area of the vehicle, battery capacity, engine power and the weight of the car can be singled out. However, driving style must also be taken into account - just as with combustion engine cars. What counts is how rapidly you accelerate when driving or whether you use the air conditioning or heating frequently. Route-related issues are also important. These include the type of road surface, the outside air temperature and the load on the car, i.e. the number and weight of passengers and luggage.
What should you bear in mind when choosing an electric car with the greatest range?
If you are going to buy an electric car with the longest range in the country, bear in mind that its actual condition will not always be what the manufacturer indicates. Take into account the fact that when you have a dynamic driving style, your electric car will travel fewer kilometres on a single charge. And while you're at it, also take into account the car's charging time and the number of electric car charging stations in your area.
The longest range of an electric car is 652 km. This record belongs to Tesla, but other brands are not far behind.
