We would like to warn all our customers once again - we have recently observed increased phishing attacks on sales portals. The scammers have once again decided to use the fake InPost website for their purposes.
For the sake of our customers, we appeal - be careful online! Once again, we are warning against increased phishing attacks on sales portals.
And what is phishing really? It is one of the most common and popular fraud methods used by cybercriminals. Phishing involves a criminal impersonating a specific institution or company in order to defraud them of valuable and confidential information. This can include passwords, logins, personal data or bank details. Phishing emails always contain a link to a fake website, where the unsuspecting user provides the criminals with login or payment card details.
In this case, the scammers have once again decided to use a fake InPost website for their purposes, which they post on sales or auction portals. The scammer, who pretends to be an interested customer, contacts the seller and offers to organise courier delivery of the item they have ordered themselves. Interestingly, the scammers most often contact the seller not through the service in question, but privately on instant messaging services such as Whatsapp or Messenger, which should arouse vigilance. Always use the official communication channels of the respective advertising or auction site .
The potential buyer also often explains that he will place an order and the seller will receive payment into his account. All he has to do is follow a link to a fake page described as: "Receive funds via InPost post quickly and securely". It is at this point that the red light should go on! We assure you that we never direct users beyond the standard payment methods! Be vigilant and never click on suspicious links! Following the link to the fake InPost website and filling in the form leads to the phishing of data and the seizure of the seller's funds.
In addition, the phishing campaign reached the fake InPost channel on YouTube. In the video, the perpetrators 'trained' their victims how to send a parcel safely, or in other words, how to fall victim to a scam. We immediately reported the videos for removal. Remember to check the credibility of the channel first, e.g. by looking at its content (how many videos are on it, how many subscribers it has). If the profile looks new, this should arouse your suspicions. Once again, we recommend exercising extreme caution! The official InPost Youtube channel can be found at HERE .
How not to fall prey to cyber fraud?
- Never click on suspicious links.
- Do not open or reply to suspicious SMS messages.
- Under no circumstances disclose your private data. Apply the principle of limited trust online.
- Use ONLY verified forms of payment or shipment of the item (e.g. arranging shipment of the sold item on your own - using the InPost Mobile application or using shipment through our website inpost.pl/SzybkieNadania/ )
