On the Internet, we can find any product of our dreams - there are virtually no restrictions. In addition, online shopping is incredibly convenient and fast, which is why we are so keen to order a variety of goods - even groceries. But what about payment? One option is to pay via the PayPal . Is this a safe solution?
Secure online payments - what is PayPal?
The e-commerce industry has made incredible progress in recent years. Nowadays, it is even hard to imagine a situation in which we stop using the benefits of virtual shops. We buy practically everything there: clothes, cosmetics, electronics, home accessories, furniture, books, household appliances or our favourite food. To carry out a transaction on the chosen sales platform, we need to pay online. There are many methods - we usually choose a card or an online transfer. However, these will not be the optimal solutions in every case.
Some internet users are also concerned about the security of their finances and are looking for alternative payment methods. One of these is the global PayPal system, a so-called electronic wallet that enables payment transactions online. It was established in 1998 and was initially part of the US sales site eBay - it became an independent company on 18 July 2015. PayPal is simply a multifunctional money transfer tool where we can add our payment cards and link our bank account. The most important function of the aforementioned system is to make it easier for users to pay at online shops. When shopping, all you have to do is select this payment method and enter the correct login details for your PayPal account on a prepared page. We will receive information to confirm, and once this is done, the transaction will be completed. It is worth mentioning that the system guarantees the protection of bank account and related card details - they are never shared with third parties.
Online security - how does PayPal work?
What we value most in online shopping is speed and convenience. Using a PayPal account is no trouble at all - operations are simple, comfortable and also secure. Through the service we can not only pay for purchased goods. We also have the possibility to send money to friends who use PayPal. All you have to do is enter the e-mail address of the recipient of the transfer and the money will be transferred to their account.
The way PayPal works is actually a perfect combination of a traditional account and a virtual wallet. All thanks to the fact that we have the option of completing transactions by drawing funds from a linked payment card or directly from a prepaid PayPal account. Funds can be transferred to the account in two ways:
- traditional bank transfer - we need to make it from an account registered in the same name as the PayPal account in question and include a special identifier in the title of the transfer to enable the funds to be credited correctly;
- Instant top-up - with this method the money will appear in your PayPal account in just a few minutes. You just need to select the option: "Add instant funds from Trustly".
Online payments - is PayPal secure?
The most important question when it comes to online payment transactions is: are they secure? After all, none of us wants to expose ourselves to fraudulent scams and cash disappearing from our bank account. When it comes to the PayPal service, we need not fear. The system cares exceptionally about user security - one of the reasons for its popularity worldwide.
Every payment through PayPal is encrypted and monitored in real time, effectively preventing scams, identity theft, fraud and other crimes. It is also important to note that during the transaction, financial data are hidden - we only need the login and password of the PayPal account to accept the payment. A significant increase in security is also provided by professional technical support and a number of specialists monitoring all transactions 24/7.
What's more, PayPal has created a special buyer protection programme, as well as a seller protection programme - they definitely increase the comfort when shopping online. In the first case, the user can file a dispute with the seller if the purchased product has not been delivered or significantly deviates from the presentation in the virtual shop. The buyer has up to 180 days from payment to do so. If the seller does not resolve the reported problem, we have the option of filing a claim (within the next 20 days), which will result in PayPal getting involved in resolving the problematic dispute. The seller protection programme, on the other hand, guarantees businesses support, e.g. when a customer requests a refund for a variety of reasons. This ensures that the owner does not have to fear unfair practices on the part of consumers.
