InPost prepares for Christmas online shopping peak
11 December 2015
The run-up to Christmas is a busy time for us, because Poles have fallen in love with online shopping. However, as always, we do everything to ensure that gifts reach their addressees on time in a form that is convenient for them and in the shortest possible time, because InPost has the highest on-time delivery within one day , declares Sebastian Anioł, CEO of InPost.
The parcel peak is an intensified period of sending and delivering parcels to private recipients, which starts in the second half of November and lasts until Christmas itself. This is when Poles most often decide to shop online to avoid queues in traditional shops. Courier companies are the primary logistics service during this period.
InPost's courier segment is already preparing for its heaviest load of the year. In the customer service department, employment is up by around 14% over the period. Sorting centres are also being prepared to receive more parcels.
Among other things, we are installing an additional automatic parcel sorter and expanding the sorting lines. This will increase the capacity of our sorting plant to around 22,000 parcels per hour. In terms of transport, we are expanding our courier network through, among other things, direct connections between major branches - describes the Company's preparations to its President Sebastian Anioł.
In addition, the company plans to the launch of additional collection points during this period, of which there are expected to be 200 nationwide . There will also be mobile Parcel Machines®. of which couriers will issue parcels directly to recipients.
InPost started its courier business in June this year and has since recorded dynamic growth in delivered volumes.
