On 21 April, a ceremonial installation of a deforestation counter on the façade of the TAURON Arena in Krakow took place. The installation is a continuation of the project inaugurated in 2021 and heralds the Green Film Festival 2023 event, of which we are a strategic partner.
Despite numerous declarations by many governments, the scale of deforestation worldwide continues to increase. This poses an increasingly serious threat to nature, the climate and humanity. To draw attention to this huge problem, the organisers of the Green Film Festival are once again installing a deforestation counter on the largest led screen in Poland, the façade of Krakow's TAURON Arena . This counter shows the rate at which the world's forests have been cut down over recent years.
The date of the meter installation - 21 April, the eve of Earth Day - is no coincidence. This project aims to educate by showing the causes and the actions we can take to stop or slow down this process for the good of our planet . The installation of a deforestation counter is a kind of prelude to the Green Film Festival, which will take place from 13-20 August 2023 in Krakow. For 8 festival days, audiences will be able to see the best Polish and international productions talking about environmental issues.
