Nearly 3,000 towns with access to an InPost parcel machine
I nPost - the leader in modern logistics in Poland - has expanded its infrastructure of Paczkomat® InPost machines to over 9,000 locations. Machine No. 9000 stood in the village of Wysocko Małe, near Kalisz - where around 1,300 people live. The machines are now available in 16 of Poland's largest cities, 23 towns with up to 200,000 inhabitants, 46 towns with up to 100,000 inhabitants, 138 towns with up to 50,000 inhabitants, 728 towns with up to 20,000 inhabitants and 1,823 villages.
In order to handle the growing volumes of parcels, InPost is systematically developing its logistics infrastructure - it has opened a second central sorting facility in Mszczonów, near Warsaw, after the sorting plant in Piotrków Trybunalski. In addition, the company signed a contract for the installation of 880 new Paczkomat® InPost machines at outlets of the Delikatesy Centrum chain, organised by the Eurocash Group.
„ We are expanding our infrastructure very rapidly - but we are making sure that the map of Poland with access to the devices includes large and medium-sized cities as well as small towns and villages. Today, the network of Paczkomat® InPost devices is being used just as intensively in such places. We also receive hundreds of further applications from all over Poland with requests to install more machines. No matter where our customers live, they have the right to access the high quality service offered by InPost. In this way, we are eliminating the technological backwardness of smaller towns and giving them access to services on the same level as the inhabitants of the largest Polish metropolises are used to. This is particularly important right now, during the second wave of the pandemic, as our machines are still the safest - because completely contactless - form of shopping delivery." - points out Rafał Brzoska, CEO of InPost.
InPost is also investing in green transport. The company has expanded its fleet of electric cars with 40 new Nissan e-NV200 XL Voltia and announces the purchase of more. The cars provide a range of up to 200km in the city, 8m³ of cargo space and a payload of 580kg.
InPost has also introduced a service "Parcel in a Weekend" - due to the growing demand for the service. It allows deliveries to the Paczkomat® InPost device also on Saturdays and Sundays - the cost of the service is PLN 4.99 gross. Under 'Parcels at the weekend', parcels are delivered to customers at the weekend if sending (i.e. transferring the parcel to the device or POP or placing an order for collection by the courier ), will take place on Saturday by 13:00.
The number of Paczkomat® InPost devices (9,000 devices in Poland) has exceeded the scale of Poczta Polska's own outlets (4,600[1]). The devices are also available in Poland at shops: Dino, Lidl, Kaufland, the Delikatesy Centrum chain of shops organised by the Eurocash Group, as well as in Auchan Shopping Centres. InPost has also signed a contract with the Auchan shop chain for the delivery of Refrigerators and a door-to-door delivery service . The functionalities of the InPost machines allow for the safe storage and collection of food, beverages and frozen food ordered online at Auchan Direct. According to Kantar TNS research, as many as 40% of online shoppers want to collect their groceries in InPost® machines.
In addition, InPost - responding to market demand - has launched a new device model. It is Parcel Machine® InDoor which is specifically designed for indoor installation. Paczkomat® InDoor allows property owners to provide their residents and tenants with the most advantageous and popular option for collecting their purchases. At the same time, they attract local residents to the location - allowing shops and service outlets to generate additional profits.
According to a Gemius report[2], the Parcel Machine® is the most frequently chosen form of delivery - it has overtaken couriers. This type of delivery of goods is preferred by up to 61% of online shoppers. This marks an increase in the popularity of the service among internet users by up to 9 percentage points compared to the results of the 2019 report. For the first time ever, these devices beat courier delivery in popularity, which is chosen by 55% of respondents - the first result of its kind in the world. In addition, as many as 68% of respondents declare that the possibility to pick up their purchases via InPost devices motivates them to buy from a specific online shop - an increase of 7 percentage points more year-on-year.
Every parcel from a Paczkomat® InPost device can be collected via a free mobile app for remote box opening. The app already has 4 million active users and records several hundred thousand remote openings per day. The software was on the podium of the download list in the Google Play and Appstore for eight weeks. Thanks to the app, multiple people can receive parcels at one machine at the same time. InPost will also soon make it possible to send parcels via an app installed on a smartphone. As part of its digitalisation strategy with I nPost can now also be contacted using Google Assistant . The conversation starts by calling a bot called ChatBot Mat with the phrase "Talk to InPost".
