How would you improve parcel lockers? Competition results!

Let’s make one thing clear straight away – the coffee machine in the parcel locker, which has been suggested many times, would pose a threat to the security of parcels, and a ‘painless colonoscopy’ – however necessary it undoubtedly is – would probably require too many approvals, so for the time being this examination must remain unpleasant (in any case, we send our warmest regards to Grażyna, who suggested the idea!).

Suggestions were also put forward for solutions that already exist, or… are due to be introduced shortly:

• Our mobile app will be launching very soon, and its features are sure to surprise you (stay tuned our Facebook page, we will keep you informed about this).
• There have also been suggestions to add a label printer, whilst… please remember that labels are not required for sending parcels via a Parcel Locker. You can simply go to the machine with your parcel already packed and select the appropriate option on the screen. Our staff at the branch will apply the label to your parcel, and you’ll receive the parcel number at the email address provided on the Paczkomat screen.
• You also asked for the option to extend the time allowed for collecting a parcel from a parcel locker. And this option is now available. In the emails sent to recipients 24 hours before the parcel is returned to the branch, we provide a telephone number to which you must text the relevant code (which is also included in the email). In that case, 24 hours will be added to the time you have to collect your parcel (from the moment you send the text message!).

But let’s not drag this out, as everyone’s tapping their feet with impatience.

Agnieszka, for her part, wrote that what is needed is…

A mobile phone charger – sometimes, just before you collect a parcel, your phone’s battery runs out and you can’t see the code on the screen to enter it.

Several people had the same idea, but Agnieszka was the first and – crucially – she gave a convincing explanation for why it was necessary.

If a parcel locker is occupied and you cannot post a parcel, it should show the nearest location with a locker of the required size.

I’d fit a lightning conductor to the parcel locker. I’m really scared of thunderstorms, and I’m so unlucky that whenever I’ve got to collect something from a parcel locker, there’s always thunder somewhere. I keep an eye on the sky and wonder when’s the best moment to go over so I don’t get struck by lightning. Something like that would save my life and also spare me the stress of collecting a parcel from the parcel locker.
