How do I set up an email? This question troubles those who are unfamiliar with online activities. Email is undoubtedly an integral part of it. Without an individual address, you won't be able to set up an account on social networks, shop online or do official business. Find out how to set up an e-mail, which free sites you should use and what to look out for.
How to set up an email - key information
An electronic e-mail address makes it possible to receive and send messages, as well as to set up accounts on many websites or portals. Online mail is an indispensable tool for internal communication in a company or university or simply in everyday life. These are the main reasons to find out how to set up your own email. You can use free platforms or hosting services. In fact, you don't need to provide much personal information - mostly the basic ones, such as your name and date of birth, are enough. Setting up an email on most free services looks very similar and the whole process takes a while.
Nowadays, email can be used not only with a browser, but also with a mobile app or simply a smartphone. How do you set up an email on your phone? In a very simple way: Just download the appropriate app (if you use Gmail, download the one offered by Google) and your device will send you a notification of each new message. You can also set up several email addresses and configure them with each other. This is useful if you belong to different organisations (e.g. company, university) but want to have all your messages in one place. And how do you set up a second email account? In the same way as the first one, i.e. with the help of the appropriate form provided on the website.
Email - where to set it up?
You do not need to spend money to set up an email address. Many portals offer a free service, although this involves agreeing to marketing messages. There is nothing stopping you from deleting them every time. However, if you don't want to play around with constantly throwing them in the bin, then you can purchase the premium version. What kind of emails are there? Most of the free ones are based on news services. These include:
- Google,
- interia.pl,
- wp.pl,
- onet.pl,
- O2.
Microsoft services such as Outlook mail or private, mostly paid, hosting domains are also available.
The instructions on how to set up an email are as follows. The first step of registration, as soon as you have selected a site, is to click on the 'Create Account' tab. You then need to enter your own name for the account, which will be displayed in front of the domain. This usually consists of your first and last name, but bear in mind that on free hosting some names may already be taken. The next step is to create a strong password and provide basic information such as gender, date of birth (in the case of Gmail). At the very end, it remains to accept the consents (including, above all, the processing of personal data). That is all! Once the e-mail has been created, logging in takes place using a login (i.e. your own address) and a password.
What should I pay attention to when setting up an email?
How do you set up an email so that all data and documents received are secure? Attention should be paid to two-step authentication. This feature tends to apply to paid services, but the free ones also take care of security. They usually ask for a telephone number or a second e-mail address from which to confirm login and change the password.
What is important is not only to know how to set up an e-mail, but also how to use it. Each electronic mailbox is divided into folders, such as 'Received', 'Sent', 'Offers', Communities', etc. Incoming messages are mostly automatically assigned to specific categories. Sometimes, however, the system fails, which is why it is worth checking the spam folder regularly for important messages. In every mailbox, you will also find a folder with a "Recycle Bin". Messages in this folder are permanently deleted after a certain period of time, and if you move a message there by mistake, you can undo the operation.
