77% of online shoppers choose Paczkomat® InPost
The leader in the delivery of online shopping in Poland is the Paczkomat® InPost machine, which is used most often by 77% of all online shoppers, according to the Gemius E-commerce in Poland 2021 report. Delivery by courier to home or work is chosen by only half of online shoppers. What's more, delivery to a Paczkomat® InPost machine has also become the most motivating form of delivery for online shopping, as confirmed by a record 81% of respondents. In the area of courier delivery, InPost also ranks first, outclassing international companies DPD and DHL.
The role of the Paczkomat® InPost parcel machine network is growing significantly in the context of forms of returning purchased goods that encourage online shopping. In this category, they were indicated by 64% of respondents. The possibility to send the product back free of charge by courier (door-to-door) is the next most important and was indicated by 44% of respondents.
- InPost's courier deliveries took the lead for the first time ever with indications of 37%, although our competitors are the biggest global giants - such as DPD, DHL, UPS, Fedex. In the D2D segment, the three strongest players cover most of the market. As many as 88% of online shoppers choose one of the brands: InPost, DPD or DHL. Pocztex, fourth in the list, has only 4% of indications. These results and the strengthening of the position of the Paczkomat® network as the market leader are a source of pride, but also an incentive for further work and raising the bar. - says Rafał Brzoska, CEO of InPost .
- In addition to the excellent results, the report shows that a new generation is entering the online trading market - and with it a new type of consumer. This is a consumer who uses technology, who is mobile, who is independent, who uses foreign websites without complexes and who pays particular attention to environmental issues. It is in the 15-24 age group that 50% of people buy just as often from foreign sites as from Polish ones. In this age group, up to 73% of respondents are particularly motivated to choose an environmentally friendly form of delivery, e.g. eliminating carbon footprint, delivery of our machines by electric vehicles - comments Rafał Brzoska .
Comparing the results, it was the 15-24 year olds who were much more likely to cite Paczkomat® InPost as motivating their purchases (88%) - against an already record average for all age groups of 81%. They are also among the other age groups the most frequent customers of Paczkomat® devices: 87% against an average of 77%. This is also the group that cites instant delivery (Same Day Delivery) as a motivator to buy (89%), with an average of 83%.
- This is the consumer of tomorrow. The Gemius report is worth reading, as it tells us what is most important in business - what this market segment will look like not in six months or a year, but in 2.5 or even 10 years. It is worth listening to this voice, because the logistics business and online commerce will look different in a few years' time - adds Rafał Brzoska .
Paczkomat® InPost is the most environmentally friendly form of online shopping. InPost's analyses show that ordering a parcel to them reduces CO2 emissions by up to 75% compared to delivery directly to the customer's home. In 2020 alone, deliveries to Paczkomat® InPost machines reduced CO2 emissions by more than 180,000 tonnes. The further development and optimisation of the Paczkomat® InPost machine network will contribute to reducing car traffic in cities, which will translate into improved air quality and climate protection.
