Planning to set up a website and don't know where to start? For starters, search for free domains. Unfortunately, many people don't think about this when creating a name for their business. Today, a website is a component of any business. Find out where to find free domains and how to purchase them.
A free domain is not easy to find - as long as you care about a meaningful address, of course. Every day there are tens of millions of active websites in the world. The other half are empty domains that are occupied with a view to reselling them later or seizing the name.
Where to look for free internet domains?
Where to start looking for a free internet domain? The easiest way is to look at services offering their registration. The choice of one of them does not matter in terms of security or later positioning. You will notice the differences in fees and the number of offered endings (.pl, .com, .eu, etc.). With most registrars, the easiest to remember address endings are also the most expensive, but choosing them increases the likelihood of your website being found by customers.
Every portal of this type has a search engine for free domains. You need to enter the name of the site you have invented into it, and this will check whether it is available. If it is, you will have the opportunity to acquire it after paying the appropriate fees.
Nowadays, most of the sensible domains are taken, which is why a secondary market has been created, i.e. marketplaces with previously used addresses. In such a service you have the opportunity to find your dream domain at a lower price than at registrars. You can also try to hunt down a busy address by paying for a so-called 'www address capture'.
Your dream domain is not available in any of these places? Type the address you have created into Google and see if there is an active site under it. It is possible that it has been unused for years. If this is the case, it is worth writing to the owner with an offer to buy - you will find out how to find their details later in this text.
How do I check if a domain is free?
A WHOIS search engine, the National Domain Register, will help you find the owner of any Polish domain. You will find out there whether the domain is free. If not, you can check: when the address was registered, by whom the service was commissioned, what hosting it is and by when it was paid for. The available info only applies to sites owned by companies. Domains occupied by private individuals will be a bit more problematic.
How do I buy a domain name online?
Checking out free domains is only the beginning of registering your own website online. After wading through hundreds of addresses and paying for your chosen one, you need to make sure you have the right hosting. Buying a server is essential. The main criterion for selection should be the allowable monthly data transfer.
Domain availability and servers are one thing. Before you buy, run a Wayback Machine search. There, you'll check to see if any unsafe or illegal sites existed on your domain, which could negatively affect its positioning. It is not worth paying for an address that has an uninteresting history.
