Electric two-seater car - what are its characteristics?
A two-seat electric car is a vehicle characterised by its low weight and size. These are usually coupled with a severely limited battery capacity which translates into a modest range. The performance of such vehicles is also poor. The limited luggage compartment does not allow larger items to be carried.
The two-seater vehicle segment has existed for many years. The first such cars were, of course, equipped with internal combustion engines. One example is the Smart ForTwo I, which is also popular in Poland. Its production started as early as 1998. Another icon of small vehicles is the Mini Cooper brand. A maximum of two passengers can be accommodated in the S Roadster model.
With the electrification of transport, electric two-seater cars have emerged. One manufacturer of this type of car is Citroën. This concern produces the Ami model. A successor to its iconic car has not been forgotten by the Mercedes group, which owns the Smart brand. The German manufacturer's two-seater electric car is called the Smart EQ ForTwo. 
What are the parameters of a two-seater electric car?
As mentioned at the beginning, a two-seater electric car does not have outstanding performance. For example, the Smart EQ ForTwo has a 17 kWh battery pack. This allows it to drive up to 135 km on a single charge. With 82 hp, it can accelerate to 130 km/h. The car is 270 cm long and weighs 1095 kg.
The Citroën Ami has even more modest capabilities. Its dimensions are 240 cm long, 139 cm wide and 152 cm high. The vehicle weighs 485 kg. A 5.5 kWh battery allows driving for 70 km. The maximum speed is 70 km/h. For safety reasons, this car is designed for city driving only.
How much does a two-seater electric car cost?
Small electric cars are the cheapest way to enter the world of electric cars. The Smart ForTwo EQ is one of them, with prices starting at £99,000.
Extremely affordably priced is the Citroën Ami described above. This two-seater electric vehicle costs £26,000 in the base version. In some countries, an offer to rent it is available. In France, for example, it is possible for €20 per month.
Electric 2-seater car - are there smaller ones?
The category of even smaller vehicles is also worth mentioning. One of the most popular single-seater vehicles was created by Renault. This concern produces the Twizzy model. Cars of this type are also developed by Poles. One example is the Triggo. Due to their unusual shape, very small size, inconspicuous drive and negligible engine and battery power, they are closer to vehicles that could be called covered scooters.
The two-seater electric car is a great vehicle for the city. Its small size and short charging time make it a car like no other that will work as a means of commuting to work. The prices of such vehicles are also encouraging. It remains to be hoped that there will be more and more such models.
