Electric cars are becoming more and more popular every year. In Poland, electromobility is not yet as advanced as it is abroad. However, the sale of electrics and the expansion of the charging station network are constantly developing. Get to know the most popular models of electric cars that can be seen on Polish streets. Find out also whether investing in a green car is profitable for you and good for the environment.
Electric car - which electrics are most popular in Poland?
Electromobility is a trend that is only just developing in Poland. In terms of infrastructure and the percentage share of electric cars in public traffic, our country fares poorly so far. However, this does not mean that Poles are not interested in green motoring. It is just that not everyone can afford to switch from a traditional, combustion engine car to an electric car. Let's be honest - new electric cars are quite a big expense.
Nevertheless, hybrids or electric cars can be found in Poland. People who decide to buy or lease an ecological transport alternative usually choose well-known and proven models. Among the most popular electric cars are the Nissan Leaf, Renault Zoe or BMW i3.
Cheaper variants such as the Fiat 500 Action, the Skoda Citigo-e or the Dacia Spring also have their followers. Slightly more exotic electric cars are also very popular. In Poland, Korean proposals such as the Hyundai Kona Electric or selected models of the well-known American Tesla are gaining recognition.
Are electric cars reliable?
An electric car is a big but quite profitable investment. It is worth knowing that although just entering the world of green transport costs a little, the subsequent use of an electric car is very pocket-friendly. The operation of an electric car usually does not generate additional expenses, as little can break down in the construction of this type of car.
There are not as many components in an electric car as in a traditional combustion car. The owner of a green car does not have to worry about changing oil, timing, plugs or filters. None of these components are allowed to fail, as they are not present in the design of the electrics.
In addition, drivers of an electric car can more easily avoid the frequent replacement of the brake system. Brake discs do not wear out as quickly in electrics as they do in combustion models, as drivers save them through a recuperation system.
However, we should remember that even the best electric cars are only machines, so sometimes something can break down in them. An element that should be particularly well looked after with electric cars is the battery. Its replacement is quite expensive, but should be carried out every 800-1000 charging cycles or so.
Are electric cars environmentally friendly?
Electric cars are called zero-emission vehicles. This is due to the fact that they do not emit any exhaust fumes, particulates or pollutants into the atmosphere. Electric cars also do not generate harmful greenhouse gases (including carbon dioxide), which have a very negative impact on the environment.
In addition, green car owners do not refuel their cars with fuels, but charge them with electricity straight from an electric socket. In this way, they do not contribute to the reduction of raw material resources, which, as we know, are increasingly limited.
It is therefore safe to say that using an electric car is an environmentally friendly measure. However, it is important to remember that before the car reaches the end user, it has to be manufactured. The production of an electric car also creates a carbon footprint, and it is the work on the car's battery that generates the most CO2. Nevertheless, it is better to switch to a green car than to drive an internal combustion engine.
