With depleting environmental resources and water and air pollution, more and more people have begun to pay attention to the concept that is ecology. Why it is important is often explained by authorities from the worlds of science, culture and politics.

Over the years, the question "ecology - fashion or necessity?" has become increasingly difficult to answer. Undoubtedly, many people pay attention to what is eco out of concern for the environment rather than out of fashion for ecology. Regardless, however, the need to protect nature is important, making necessary attitudes fashionable.

Is being eco fashionable? What effects can it have?

In answering the question of whether environmentalism is a fashion, it is important to separate the attitudes of people (consumers) from the behaviour of businesses. For while the fashion for ecology among them nevertheless has good effects, in business it can lead to practices that deserve condemnation.

Many companies are incorporating measures into their practices that actually help to protect the planet. One example is the abandonment of plastic bags in favour of paper bags. Companies that use recycled waste to produce goods are also protecting nature. The habit of replacing internal combustion vehicle fleets with electric cars is also truly green.

However, environmentalism is not, for example, the production of more durable, but still plastic advertising bags. This is because their production requires more oil. Another example of so-called 'greenwashing', i.e. building brand awareness on a false concern for nature, is wrapping plastic products (e.g. bottles) in paper casings.

Ecology as a necessity - why should it be remembered?

The life of animals, plants and people in a clean environment depends entirely on us. As for the question "ecology - fashion or necessity?", the arguments favour the latter answer. Ecology should be thought of as a necessity. What is more, nature conservation must be cared for continuously.

Of course, going to excess is not advisable either. So if there is no other choice than, for example, to buy water in a plastic bottle, one should not feel remorseful about it. It is not uncommon to be ecologically minded, especially when juxtaposing the choices of the individual with the activities of powerful corporations.

However, where possible, it is worth choosing attitudes that do not conflict with the environment. One example is ecology in fashion. Giving up fast fashion, which is harmful to the planet, in favour of second-hand clothes is highly advisable.

Looking for differences between the concepts of fashion and ecology, as you can see, does not always make sense. Whatever the motivation, it is important that the idea of environmental protection spreads among people. Caring for our planet is a necessity, for its well-being will benefit us all.
