Even the cheapest electric car in Poland could be even more affordable. Which zero-emission cars are the most popular choice for drivers and how do they differ? If you are interested in how much the cheapest electric car costs, read on!
The cheapest electric cars for private individuals
More and more electrics are being driven on Polish roads. It is also a fact that, in addition to companies, private individuals are also buying them. However, the most common case is that an electric car is leased. The vehicles are good for the environment, e.g. because they are emission-free. However, they do have one disadvantage - a high price.
Many people give up even cheap electric cars because of the upfront costs. However, drivers can be supported by the 'My Electric' programme, where the discount when buying a new car can be as high as nearly 20,000 PLN. You will find out more about this programme later in this article, but now let's focus on why the prices of electric cars are surprisingly high. The main reason why the difference in initial cost between combustion and electric cars is so high is the battery. An electric vehicle uses lithium-ion batteries. The materials for their production are not cheap. This is mainly the reason why these vehicles reach much higher prices.
There are currently several brands on the market that have made sure that people who care about the environment but don't have a big budget can buy an electric car. This is not the cheapest electric car, yet the price allows it to be included in our list. It is, of course, about the Renault Zoe E-Tech. The three-door car accommodates up to five people and, thanks to its 52 kWh motor, can travel up to 395 km on a single charge. Filling the battery via a DC socket takes less than 30 minutes and allows it to travel 150 km. Such parameters, however, do not come out of nowhere and for such a car in the basic version you have to pay 169,500 zloty.
Another electric car that has won the hearts of many is the Peugeot e-208. The car has a 50 kWh battery that allows it to travel up to 362 km on a single charge. This is not much less than the Renault Zoe E-Tech, and the price for this car is much lower. In the basic version, you will pay only 124,900 zloty.
We also cannot fail to mention the classic that is the Fiat 500e. The most basic, electric version of this car has a 21 kWh battery, which unfortunately does not give good driving results. You can drive a maximum of 190 km on a full charge, which is a poor result compared to the price. We will spend 104,000 zloty for such an electric car.
We are slowly moving towards cheaper cars and this part of the list will be opened by the Smart EQ Fortwo. There's no kidding - it's the best low-cost electric vehicle for city driving because of its size. The small 17.6 kWh battery is able to cover a maximum of just over 100 km. However, there is nothing to worry about. Many office buildings and petrol stations offer parking spaces with a charger for the electric. An electric passenger car of this type is an expense of PLN 99,100.
Last does not mean worst. This is best seen in the case of the Dacia Spring car. There's no getting around the fact that it's not the best car. Other than that, it's a good choice for people who carpool most in the city and suburbs and need something bigger than a Smart. The Dacia Spring accelerates to 100 in 19 seconds, but as we mentioned - this is a car for getting around in built-up areas. The car has a 26.8 kWh battery and can therefore travel nearly 200 kilometres. It is the cheapest electric car on this list and comes in at a price of £77,900.
The cheapest electric cars for business
Low-cost electric cars are a great solution for individual customers who are eligible for a discount under the 'My Electric' programme. For businesses, the case is similar, but knowing the realities of the market, we know that companies are more likely to opt for leasing.
In this case, it should be noted beforehand that when an entrepreneur takes cheap electric cars for a company, it is either a van or a passenger car. In both categories, the maximum subsidy amounts are different. Companies usually opt for an operating lease, which allows them to use the car without having to buy it. This is a significant plus for entrepreneurs, for the reason that they can provide their employees with new cars and thus not lay out a large amount of cash at once. However, this is not the only solution, as used electrics can also be leased.
Whatever the purpose for which a company needs an electric car, there are some car models that entrepreneurs opt for more often than others. One such vehicle is the Nissan Leaf. This model is often chosen for leasing due to its ability to charge very quickly and its 270 km range thanks to its 24 kWh battery. The car not only looks phenomenal, but also drives well thanks to a number of amenities, such as intelligent cruise control. The luggage compartment in this electric car is exceptionally spacious.
Cheap electric cars taken for business are often in a completely different price range to those bought privately. That is why another car of choice for entrepreneurs is the Opel Corsa. Electric cars from this model can travel up to 352 kilometres on a single charge. The battery is charged to 80 per cent after being plugged in for 30 minutes.
Last in this list is the cheapest electric car with a larger capacity. This is the Citroen e-Berlingo, which can travel up to 280 kilometres on a single charge. The XL version of this car model accommodates seven seats, making it the ideal car for family trips. The equipment includes many handy storage compartments and a system for easy parking.
Is it worth buying the cheapest used electric cars?
Electric cars do not come cheap. Therefore, many people choose to buy used models in the hope of a much lower price. The amount may be much less, but often the cheapest electric car has a very short range. This can be a huge cost generator, as replacing the battery is then required. When buying, not all information about the car is provided by the previous owner.
It may be that the car is fully operational and its glory years have only just begun. It is worth having a detailed conversation with the seller and looking for a good service in the area. Even the cheapest second-hand electric car can prove to be a good investment for the future.
How much will the subsidies from the 'My Electric' programme be for the cheapest electric cars?
Even the cheapest electric car in Poland can cost even less. This is thanks to the previously mentioned government programme 'My Electric'. Electric passenger cars can get a subsidy of even close to PLN 30,000.
Prices for electric cars start at PLN 80 000. This is a much higher amount than for cars with an internal combustion engine. The need for lower CO2 emissions means that countries are encouraging citizens in various ways to buy even the cheapest electric cars. You can find out what requirements need to be met to participate in the programme below.
Subsidised cars must be zero-emission. To correct - this means that plug-in hybrids do not meet this requirement due to the internal combustion engine. Subsidies can only be obtained for brand new cars and those taken on lease. Many leasing companies allow the initial payment to be covered by the 'My Electric' programme.
Even for the cheapest electric car in the M2, M3 and N1 categories, a subsidy of 20% or 30% can be obtained, depending on the price of the car. However, a declaration is required with an assumed mileage of min. 20,000 km.
