Paying by card makes shopping a lot quicker - we don't always have enough cash on us. One thing is for sure: it is hard to imagine not having a terminal in popular shops these days. Many of us also like to use the BLIK service - especially when making online transfers. Can we also pay with BLIK at the terminal?
BLIK payment - what is it?
BLIK is a mobile cashless payment system introduced in 2015 and controlled by the National Clearing House - so we can be sure that every transaction is done in a completely secure way. The use of the BLIK service is possible at most major banks in Poland.
What exactly does BLIK payment and why has this method become so popular? The payment process in this case boils down to the user of a smartphone connected to the internet generating a special code via their electronic banking (bank app). The next step is to enter the code at an ATM in the BLIK online payment field or at a terminal in a shop. Finally, the transaction in question still has to be accepted in the mobile app. Note: the generated BLIK code is valid for a limited time - a maximum of two minutes. You should therefore enter it promptly and efficiently. To pay using BLIK, you do not need to have your debit or credit card with you - all you need is a phone with our bank's mobile app and internet access. With this easy method, we will also make a bank transfer in a simple way - without using SMS passwords or tokens.
How do I pay with BLIK at the terminal? Practical tips
As you can see from the information above, it is possible to pay with BLIK at the terminal. Now that we know what BLIK is and what this kind of service is all about, let's check out the exact steps we need to take to make a payment. It's nothing complicated, it's enough:
- log in to your bank's mobile app,
- select the BLIK payment option, which will generate a 6-digit code,
- in the shop, tell the shop assistant that you would like to use the terminal - then press the blik button on it and enter the code,
- after entering the number, press confirm and wait for the transaction confirmation on your smartphone - when the payment amount appears, accept it.
It is worth noting that paying with BLIK costs nothing. Please note that not all card-enabled terminals allow BLIK payments - this is particularly the case with older devices. On newer terminals, the BLIK symbol often appears, which informs us that we can use this service. If in doubt, always ask the cashier.
BLIK payment at a terminal - limits
Do operations carried out using BLIK have any limits? Yes: they are defined in the bank's transaction system, but we are free to modify them. They will vary depending on the type of transaction.
Paying with BLIK - what are the advantages?
Why opt for this payment method? What are its main benefits? First and foremost, it is about convenience. For example, if you spontaneously go shopping and find that you don't have enough cash on you and your card has been left at home, paying with BLIK by phone will save the situation. The same applies if the cash dispenser is broken, which sometimes happens - most often when we are in a hurry and urgently need cash. As part of the BLIK system, many banks offer their customers attractive promotions. The service definitely facilitates daily payments and is completely secure .
BLIK payment - what are the disadvantages?
Is there a downside to paying with BLIK? For in-store transactions, we have to reckon with a slightly longer transaction time than when using a contactless card. Of course, in order to make a BLIK payment at a terminal, we also need a phone with internet access - this is the only way to log into the bank's app and generate a special code. Not all people use modern smartphones and have a permanent Internet connection. In addition, not every bank or ATM allows us to use this option. It should also be mentioned that the BLIK service only works in Poland - when travelling abroad, we will not be able to use this payment method.
BLIK payment at the terminal - summary
Paying with BLIK at the terminal is as possible, although not in all places. It is always better to ask the seller if we can use this service . BLIK is particularly useful in emergency situations, but there is no contraindication to using it on a daily basis. The method is gaining popularity and will certainly continue to grow in the future.
