It is becoming increasingly common to see electric cars on Poland's roads, which encourage buyers with their low running costs and use of environmentally friendly solutions. Although most automotive brands already offer such vehicles, the new technology still raises a number of questions. Which electric car should you choose and what should you consider when buying one? We suggest.
The best electric cars - what are their characteristics?
The most important and also the most expensive component of an electric car is the previously mentioned battery. It can therefore be concluded that the best electric cars will be equipped with an efficient battery capable of covering a long distance that can be recharged relatively quickly. In the rankings of electric cars, taking into account primarily vehicle range, Tesla invariably comes out on top. For a Model S with a 100 kWh battery and a range of around 600 km, you have to pay more than 400,000 zloty. If the vehicle is to be used mainly for getting around town, for example for short commutes, the best electric car may turn out to be a compact model with a shorter range of around 100 km. An example of this is the Fiat 500e at a relatively low price: around PLN 100,000. The battery capacity of this model is 24 kWh and the car is capable of driving more than 100 km on a single charge.
What ranges do the best electric cars achieve?
The technology used in the manufacture of electrics is constantly evolving and electric cars are able to cover really satisfactory distances on a single charge. At the outset, it is worth pointing out the difference between the range of the car declared by the manufacturer (WLTP catalogue range) and the distance the car is able to cover on a single charge in practice. The real range can be shortened by, among other things, low temperatures outside, faster driving or even such a mundane activity as switching on the air conditioning.
Which electric car available on the Polish market can boast the greatest range? Recently, the rankings of the best electric cars have been conquered by an electric car from the German brand Mercedes. According to catalogue data, the EQS model is able to cover a distance of almost 730 km on a single charge. Compact versions of the electric car, such as the Volkswagen ID.3, also have a satisfactory range. According to the manufacturer, the version with a 77 kWh battery can cover a distance of up to 549 km.
How do you choose the best electric car?
When deciding which electric car to buy, there are several key aspects to consider, including its range (which depends primarily on battery capacity), acceleration, average power consumption, type of charging socket and price. What the best electric car will be largely depends on the individual requirements and preferences of its future owner. First of all, you should consider whether you want to use the car mainly to get around town or whether you intend to drive it for longer distances. Functionality is also important - pay attention to the car's equipment, size and boot capacity.
The best electric car is supposed to meet all your expectations and give you driving pleasure. Electric cars still come out much more expensive compared to internal combustion versions, but the high purchase costs can make up for your much lower running costs.
