Attempts to defraud people online are unfortunately a sad reality. Cybercriminals are coming up with newer and newer methods to deprive users of funds on e-commerce platforms. This time, once again, we have to intervene - we have received information that scammers have decided to use a fake InPost website for their purposes.
For the sake of all our customers, we must act and warn you until it is too late! We have received many signals from users selling on OLX that scammers are impersonating our company by creating a fake website.
How does the scam work? Fraudsters, who pretend to be customers, contact OLX users with the assurance that they will organise the delivery of the purchased item themselves via InPost. The seller, after entering a special link, which directs to a fake InPost website, is supposed to collect the payment for the purchased item after entering their details and logging into their bank. Realistically, entering the link and filling in the form leads to the phishing of data and the seizure of the seller's funds.
We assure you that we do not send messages of this type and never direct users beyond the standard payment methods. We recommend extreme caution!
- How not to fall prey to cyber fraud?
We advise you to use reliable forms of shipping the item (e.g. OLX parcels to an InPost parcel machine) or to organise the shipping of the sold item on your own - e.g. using the InPost Mobile application and sending the parcel without a label or using the parcel postage through our website. inpost.pl/SzybkieNadania/ .
