6000 m2 at Prologis Park Chorzów
InPost - the fastest growing e-commerce delivery platform in Europe - has opened another 6,000 sqm logistics centre at Prologis Park Chorzów. Savills advised on the lease transaction. InPost operates more than 11,000 Paczkomat® InPost machines in Poland and courier services based on more than 60 logistics centres, including two central sorting facilities in Piotrków Trybunalski and P3 Logistic Parks Mszczonów. In January 2021, InPost successfully debuted on the EURONEXT Amsterdam stock exchange .
Prologis Park Chorzów is a modern distribution centre which, within five buildings, offers more than 250,000 sq m of modern warehouse space. The facility is located in Upper Silesia, approximately 7 km west of Katowice city centre, in the vicinity of the "Chorzów Batory" junction of the A4 motorway and is very well connected to the A1 motorway and the Katowice International Airport in Pyrzowice.
"Our logistics infrastructure is currently very efficient - this was demonstrated by the recent Christmas peak, for which we were perfectly prepared. Delivering parcels on a D+1 basis is a major challenge for any operator, including couriers - especially in the face of pandemic constraints. During our 12 years of activity on the Polish market, we have developed a proven logistics model that we can also implement in other European markets. The secret of our efficiency is also a well-prepared mobile application, which is already used by more than 5.7 million Poles. The combination of a unique service such as the network of Paczkomat® InPost devices, efficient logistics and an application unavailable from the competition makes our services not only convenient, but the most modern and innovative on the market." - says Rafał Brzoska, CEO of InPost.
"InPost is one of the most active tenants in the logistics space market in Poland, and the demand for its services is growing steadily as a result of the increasing popularity of the e-commerce sector. We are delighted to have had the pleasure of advising one of the leaders in the Polish logistics market and helping it to grow in Upper Silesia." - says Maciej Gierak, business development manager, warehouse and industrial space, Savills.
In addition, InPost has started a long-term cooperation with Echo Investment. As part of the agreement, Paczkomat® InPost machines will be installed at the developer's residential and mixed-use developments, enabling convenient collection and posting of parcels for both residents and other users. The first machine has already been installed in the Moje Miejsce development in Warsaw. Further machines will be built at the Bonarka Living housing estates in Kraków and Enter in Poznań.
InPost has also implemented a revolutionary service for sending parcels via an app. Parcels are posted at a Paczkomat® InPost machine - either to another machine belonging to the Paczkomat® network or to a specified home address. There is no need to stick any labels on the parcel - just an electronically generated QR code or a sending code in the app. You can pay for your parcel with a BLIK code. Further payment options will appear in the app in early 2021: payment card, fast transfers (pay-by-link), Apple Pay, Google Pay. The status of a shipped parcel can be tracked in the app, of course, but also on the inpost.pl website in the 'parcel tracking' section and via chatbot by entering the 24-digit parcel number. Thanks to the application, parcels can be collected by several people at the same time at one device, without the need to stand in a queue. The InPost Mobile app can be downloaded from the Google Play, App Store and Huawei AppGallery shops. The InPost Mobile app already has 5.7 million active users.
InPost can also be contacted using Google Assistant. The conversation starts by calling a bot called ChatBot Mat with the phrase "Talk to InPost". Customers can ask about, among other things, the status of their parcel, the nearest Parcel Machine®, as well as a new feature - the number to courier . The same Bot is also available on Messenger, with all its functionalities.
InPost has also introduced a service "Parcel in a Weekend" - due to the growing demand for services using the Paczkomat® InPost device network. It enables deliveries to the devices also on Saturdays and Sundays - the cost of the service is PLN 4.99 gross. Under 'Parcels at the weekend', parcels are delivered to customers at the weekend if the sending (i.e. handing over the parcel to the device or POP or placing an order for courier collection), takes place by Saturday by 1pm.
The number of machines belonging to the Paczkomat® network of devices (more than 11,000 devices in Poland) more than doubled the scale of Poczta Polska's own outlets (4,600[1]). InPost machines® are also available in Poland at shops: Dino, Lidl, Kaufland, the Delikatesy Centrum chain of shops organised by the Eurocash Group, as well as in Auchan Shopping Centres. InPost has also signed a contract with the Auchan shop chain for the delivery of Fridge machines and a door-to-door delivery service. The functionalities of InPost fridge machines allow for the safe storage and collection of food, beverages and frozen food ordered online at Auchan Direct. According to a study by Kantar TNS, as many as 40% of online shoppers want to collect their groceries on InPost machines.
In addition, InPost - responding to market demand - has launched a Parcel Machine® InDoor. This type of unit is specifically designed for indoor installation. With it, property owners provide their residents and tenants with the most advantageous and popular shopping pick-up option. At the same time, they attract local residents to the location - allowing shops and service outlets to generate additional profits.
According to a Gemius report[2], the Parcel Machine® is the most frequently chosen form of delivery - it has overtaken couriers. This type of delivery of goods is preferred by up to 61% of online shoppers. This marks an increase in the popularity of the service among internet users by as much as 9 percentage points compared to the results of the 2019 report. For the first time ever, the Paczkomat® InPost device network beat courier delivery in popularity, which is chosen by 55% of respondents - the first result of its kind in the world. In addition, as many as 68% of respondents declare that the possibility to pick up their purchases via InPost devices motivates them to buy from a specific online shop - an increase of 7 percentage points more year-on-year.
