6 reasons why 2015 will be the year of InPost parcel lockers

The growth of e-commerce in Poland
Over the past five years, the e-commerce market in Poland has grown rapidly. As recently as 2010, its value was estimated at 15.7 billion zlotys, but double-digit growth has almost doubled this figure to 27.3 billion by2014. The upward trend is sustained and demonstrates that Poles have increasing confidence in online shops and are shopping online more and more frequently. When placing an order, they expect cheap and fast delivery, as well as flexibility regarding how they collect their parcels. They find all three of these features at InPost Parcel Lockers. In December 2014, we broke our record for orders!
Allegro InPost
The agreement signed with Allegro in November 2014 introduced two extremely low-cost and revolutionary methods of returning goods – Allegro InPost Parcel Lockers and Allegro Registered Post via InPost. Free returns and low delivery charges will attract new customers to retailers, as they will no longer have to worry about making the wrong purchase. Returns are not only free, but also very straightforward to arrange.
Payment card readers at every InPost parcel locker
The end of October 2014 brought good news for people who want to pay for their online purchases only upon delivery. This is because every parcel locker is fitted with a payment card reader, which is sure to please those who, for various reasons, have so far been wary of online retailers.
Cross-border
InPost parcel lockers have expanded in recent years. Today, machines ‘made in Poland’ are already in use in 22 countries - outside Poland, including in France, Malaysia, Chile, Australia and South Africa. It is the largest infrastructure of its kind in the world. In 2015, we will take the next step towards strengthening it – we will launch international deliveries to European Union countries! Watch out for the first updates on this soon…
The potential of new overseas markets
In 2014 alone, parcel lockers made their mark in France and Italy. In 2015, the time will come to develop the service and make a name for itself amongst foreign consumers. There is particular potential in the very rich and well-developed online shopping markets in France, the UK and Italy.
Quick Returns
In 2015, we expect returns logistics to become increasingly popular. A prime example is the szybkiezwroty.pl service, which enables online shoppers to easily return their online purchases. Why is this so important? Firstly, American research shows that 95 per cent of customers return to an online shop where they’ve had a positive experience with returns. Secondly, the latest amendments to the Online Trade Act extend the return period to 14 days. Thirdly, An online shop offering free returns negates the advantage that a high-street shop has over it. And fourthly, reverse logistics opens up InPost Parcel Lockers to other sectors, not necessarily linked to e-commerce. Examples include: Samsung’s equipment repair service and returns of UPC and Vectra set-top boxes.
We’ve set out for you the six most important reasons why 2015 will be the year of InPost parcel lockers, though there are certainly many more. If you’ve come across any others yourselves, please share your thoughts in the comments or on our fan page . In 2015, we wish you – and ourselves – a ravenous appetite for success!
